Physical development through movement helps build key life skills and abilities in awareness, balance, coordination and core strength giving a better range of movement, muscle strength, flexibility and fitness.
Emotional development through combining the mind body and breath, can aid mental health by increasing the ability for self-regulation which helps reduce anxiety, gain confidence and find happiness and calm.
Our accessible content ensures participants can really get engaged, there are suggested adaptations and varied content such as seated, audio described, visual supports, captions, low stimulation and sensory.
Our inclusive programmes have been enjoyed by people with a wide range of disabilities including autism, cerebral palsy, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, sensory disabilities, developmental delay and dementia.
The techniques and movements practiced in the programme can complement physical therapy and occupational therapy exercises and allows the continuation of the activities from the school/centre to the home.

That’s a pretty large question but to describe it in its simplest terms, they both involve movements that are done to a set of principles that combine the mind, body and breath.
Many studies have shown that doing regular tai chi and qigong has many positive physical improvements on your health and wellness. What makes this form of exercise special is the internal nature and mindfulness that is combined with the physical movement which provides a fantastic boost to your overall wellbeing.
Yes, yes and more yes. Most of us will have mental health challenges in our lives at some point. Practicing tai chi and qigong can give you improved mindfulness and wellbeing strategies which can help you balance your emotions and help with your self-regulation. Our programme pathways can match what you need in the moment and help you to find focus, energy and calm.
We will always be working on improvements for not only the accessibility of our website but also making our content inclusive and fun for all. We make use of captions, audio description, low stimulation, sensory and other techniques where we can. Our movements are offered with adaptations and simplifications and because tai chi has an internal nature, the mind can do some of the movement that the body can’t do.
While we will always say check with your medical professionals before starting any new exercise programme, our content is quite gentle and we have/suggest modifications so you can stay within your own comfort zone. We focus on developing abilities rather than thinking what we can’t do. We have often found carers are surprised in discovering abilities found through doing the different tai chi activities for the participants.
Whether you are a caregiver in your home or it is your occupation, your wellbeing is important, not only for yourself but also the people that you care for. At times, as you know, caring for others can be stressful and draining, the movement for calm membership programme can help you to look after yourself, take a break and find moments of calm in your day.
Yes, tai chi for kids is great. We have content that you can share with your children, there are different styles of videos that can help develop their physical and emotional wellbeing. We have the added motivation of the Tai Chi Cats, Chi, Geo and Aqua – our best instructors!
Wellbeing is for everyone and our content can be enjoyed whatever your age and ability. We have had adults of all ages find something new in our programmes – whether they have done tai chi before or they are just starting out on their journey. Our focus is on being in the moment and enjoying the holistic nature of tai chi play.
We are far from being masters of tai chi ourselves. Our programmes are all about using simplified movements inspired by tai chi and qigong – albeit sticking to the principles as much as possible, so participants can quickly gain some of the benefits and feelings of practicing tai chi. We see tai chi practice as a journey that hasn’t got a particular destination, it is a lifestyle.
We produce content for parents and carers and content to share with those they care for. Wellbeing is best centred around the whole family. We believe tai chi should be for everyone and we can grow our wellbeing together.
